Privacy Policy

The short version
We collect your name, email, phone number, and which school your child attends — only to match you with other families at the same school. Your phone number is shared with one other parent, and only after a driver confirms your seat. We take no payment, run no ads, and sell nothing. You can delete your account at any time.
Same School Ride (“we”, “us”) is a non-commercial service that helps parents and guardians at the same school find and share a school run. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the choices you have. It is intended to align with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021).
1. Who is responsible for your data
Same School Ride is the controller of the personal data described here. For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@sameschoolride.com.
2. What we collect
When you create an account and use Same School Ride, we collect only this:

We do not collect: payment or card details, government IDs, your child’s name or any other detail about your child, precise location, browsing history, or any sensitive personal data. We run no advertising and no third-party ad trackers. The only cookie is a single sign-in session cookie the site needs to work — our analytics (below) sets none.
Accounts are for adults (18+) only.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide the service (matching, showing routes, handling seat requests) — this is necessary to perform the service you asked us for.
- To send you service messages about your routes and bookings — on the same basis.
- To keep the service safe (preventing abuse, responding to reports) — our legitimate interest in a trustworthy community.
- To understand how the site is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it — our legitimate interest. This uses cookieless analytics that does not identify you (see section 5).
We do not sell your data, we do not use it for marketing, and we take no payment or commission of any kind.
4. Who can see your information
- Other families at your child’s school can see your name and the routes you publish or that you have requested. They cannot see your email or phone number.
- One matched parent receives your phone number after a seat request is confirmed, so the ride can be arranged.
- Families at other schools can never see you.
- The person running Same School Ride receives a short internal notice of sign-ups and confirmed matches (name and school only) to keep the service running and safe.
5. Service providers
We rely on a small number of processors to run the service:
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Neon — database hosting.
- Resend — sending notification emails.
- Vercel Analytics & Speed Insights — privacy-friendly, cookieless traffic and performance measurement. It records page views, referrers, approximate country, and device type in aggregate. It sets no cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not build a profile of you.
These providers process data on our instructions only. Their servers may be located outside the UAE, which means your data may be transferred and stored abroad with appropriate safeguards in place. By using Same School Ride you acknowledge this transfer.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records to resolve a dispute or comply with the law.
7. Your rights
Under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law you may:
- ask for a copy of the data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
- ask us to delete your account and data;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw any consent you have given;
- complain to the UAE Data Office if you believe we have handled your data unlawfully.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@sameschoolride.com. We will respond within the time required by law.
8. Security
Connections to the site are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Access to the database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and will notify you and the authorities of a breach where the law requires it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, notify account holders by email.
